Woo Sang-hyeok (Yongin City Hall), a Korean track and field high jump ‘signboard star’, challenged to win the first competition this year, but took second place. Woo Sang-hyuk surpassed 2m24 in the men’s high jump final at the 10th Asian Indoor Track and Field Championships held in Astana, Kazakhstan on the 12th.

He came second after Akamatsu Ryoichi (Japan), who recorded 2m28. Woo Sang-hyeok was chosen as the number one candidate for the championship in the high jump event.

It is because Mutaz Esabarsim (Qatar), who is considered his rival and competitor, did not appear in this tournament. However, in the final, Akamatsu surpassed his personal best tie of 2m28, and Woo Sang-hyeok had to be satisfied with second place.

Woo Sang-hyuk confirmed the final by exceeding 2m14 in the first round of qualifying held the previous day (11th). He skipped 2m10 in the finals with 9 players, and lightly crossed 2m15, 2m20, and 2m24 in the first round.

Woo Sang-hyeok and Akamatsu were the only players who never failed until 2m24. Woo Sang-hyeok challenged 2m28, but he couldn’t cross it because his butt slightly touched the bar in the first round.

Akamatsu exceeded 2m28 in the second period. Woo Sang-hyuk then challenged by raising the bar to 2m30. He aimed for first place at once.

However, Woo Sang-hyeok could not exceed 2m30. He failed twice in a row and the second place was confirmed.

He will return to Korea on the 14th with the Korean team participating in this tournament. Woo Sang-hyeok will train in Korea and prepare for the World Championships in Athletics to be held in Budapest, Hungary in August and the Asian Games in Hangzhou in September, following the Diamond League hosted by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).

Korea Athletics won 4 medals, including 1 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze medal, in this event with about 500 participants from 31 countries.

On the 10th, the first day of the competition, Yu Gyu-min (Iksan City Hall) jumped 16m73 in the men’s triple jump final and won a bronze medal. He became the first Korean male athlete to become a medalist at the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships. 바카라사이트
