Hyun-jin Ryu’s Toronto Blue Jays have snapped their losing streak. They’ve reignited the American League wild-card race.

Toronto won 3-0 at home against the Boston Red Sox on April 16 at Rogers Centre.

It was a game that mattered. Toronto was in second place in the wild-card race and faced a four-game series at home against the Texas Rangers. Toronto was in a three-way tie for two spots with Texas and the Seattle Mariners. They lost all four of these valuable home games. Dropped to fourth place in the wild card race. Their lead over second-place Texas has grown to 2.5 games.메이저놀이터

With the end of the season in sight, a longer losing streak could have completely derailed their season, so it was important to break the streak in the first game against Boston, and thankfully they did.

After all, crunch time is when stars shine. It was Guerrero Jr. who saved the day for Toronto. Guerrero Jr. didn’t miss a beat. In the bottom of the third inning, with runners on first and second, he hit his only home run of the game, a three-run shot. The pitch was good. He took a first-pitch fastball from Boston starter Bello. Bello didn’t have a bad day. He went six innings, striking out 10, before O’Tee hit the home run.

On the mound, Berrios was strong. Seven innings of five-hit ball with eight strikeouts. There were no four-pitchers. It was a perfect game. Hicks and Romano followed with one inning each.

With the win, Toronto reaffirmed that the wild-card race is far from over. Coincidentally, Texas, which had won six straight games, got back into the mix with a 3-12 loss to the Cleveland Indians.
