‘King’ LeBron James (LA Lakers) and ‘Greek Monster’ Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks) will be captains of the NBA All-Star Game this season.
The NBA Secretariat announced the starting list for the 2022-2023 season All-Star Game on its website on the 27th (hereinafter referred to as Korean time).
The players to start in the All-Star game were selected with the combined votes reflecting the weight of 50% of fans, 25% of media, and 25% of NBA players. 스포츠토토
In the Western Conference, James, Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors), Luka Doncic (Dallas Mavericks), Nikola Jokic (Denver Nuggets), and Zion Williamson (New Orleans Pelicans) will start.
In the Eastern Conference, starting with Adetokounmpo, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving (above Brooklyn Nets), Donovan Mitchell (Cleveland Cavaliers), and Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics) will start.
James and Antetokounmpo are captains of each team with the most votes.
After the NBA reorganized the All-Star Game in such a way that each conference star player took the lead as captain, James has been captain for the sixth time in a row.
The team captained by James has won five matches so far.
Antetokounmpo will captain for the third time following the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 seasons.
Each of the 7 candidates will be selected by the conference director’s vote and announced on the 3rd of next month.
If James participates in this All-Star Game without injury, he will set a new record for most appearances with 19, surpassing ‘legend’ Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who died in January 2020.
Abdul-Jabbar was named an All-Star 19 times, just like James, but did not play in the 1972-1973 All-Star Game. Therefore, Abdul-Jabbar’s actual number of appearances in the All-Star Game is 18.
James is 157 points behind Abdul-Jabbar, who holds the record for the most points in this category with 38,387 points in his career, and is likely to break the record held by the ‘legend’ in February one after another.
If James continues his scoring pace, the career scoring record will be set on Feb. 8 at home against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
