Choi Jeong (36-SSG Landers) is on pace to break the Korean Baseball Organization (KBO) record for career home runs.

Through four days, Choi has crossed home plate 1,354 times.메이저놀이터

With two more runs, he will surpass Lee Seung-yeop (47) of the Doosan Bears, who reached 1,355 with the Samsung Lions.

Lee became the first player in the KBO to reach 1,300 career runs on May 2, 2017, against Doosan in Daegu. At the same time, he became the KBO’s all-time leading scorer, surpassing MBC Sports Plus commentator Yang Jun-hyuk (1,229 points).

Although Lee retired that year, he remained the KBO’s leading scorer for six years and four months.

However, Choi would soon overtake Lee as the league’s top scorer.

Since starting his professional career in 2005, Choi has never been named the league’s top scorer.

In 2012, she scored 85 points, losing the title by one point to Lee Yong-kyu (then with the KIA Tigers, now with the Kiwoom Heroes), who scored 86 points.

Despite not winning the title, Choi continued to get on base and hit home runs without any major injuries or slumps.

Her perseverance was rewarded with the title of top scorer.

The KBO will honor Choi with a commemorative award when she breaks the record for runs scored.

Now in her 19th season in the KBO, Choi is at the top of the career list in several categories.

He is likely to become the all-time leader in home runs and RBIs.

With 454 home runs, Choi is 13 shy of Lee Seung-yup’s KBO record of 467. In the 2024 season, Choi is expected to surpass Lee as the KBO’s all-time home run leader.

The leader in RBIs is Choi Hyung-woo (39), who plays for KIA.

On June 20 of this year, Choi reached 1,500 RBIs with a two-run shot against the Daejeon Hanwha Eagles, surpassing Lee Seung-yup’s previous record of 1,498 RBIs. As of today, Choi has 1,535 career RBIs.

Choi is in third place with 1,442 RBIs.

While Choi is still a prolific run producer, it’s unlikely he’ll have a longer career than Choi, who is three years younger.

Choi acknowledged Choi’s momentum, saying, “I think she will surpass my RBI record one day.”

Choi is on track to become the KBO’s all-time leader in runs scored, home runs, and RBIs.
