Kiwoom Heroes slugger Lee Jung-hoo, who has fully regained his batting touch, conquered the 500-hit plateau in his career.
Lee hit a double to left-center field off LG starter Kim Yoon-sik with runners on first and third in the bottom of the first inning of a 0-0 home game against the LG Twins at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on Aug. 8.
He had amassed 498 career RBIs prior to the game, and with the double, he became the 110th player in KBO history to reach 500 RBIs.
After hitting 47 RBIs in 2017, his rookie season, Lee hit 57 in 2018, 68 in 2019, and 101 in 2020 to surpass 100 RBIs in a season for the first time.
He followed that up with 84 RBIs in 2021, then led the league in RBIs for the first time in his career with 113 in 2022.
This season, he has 30 RBIs.
At 24 years, 9 months, and 19 days, Lee became the third-youngest player in history to reach 500 RBIs after Lee Seung-yeop (23 years, 8 months, 1 day) and Kim Ha-seong (24 years, 8 months, 14 days). 안전놀이터
After going 3-for-3 with a walk and three strikeouts in the previous game against LG, Lee extended his hitting streak to six games with a double in his first at-bat.
