LG used six bullpen pitchers to earn a one-run victory. Baek Seung-hyun earned his first career save to end a tense game. Manager Yeom Kyung-yeop praised Baek’s tough save.

The LG Twins won 3-2 against the Samsung Lions in the Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League 2023 at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on 14 April. After starter Lee Sang-young gave up two runs in four innings, six bullpen pitchers combined for five scoreless innings. In the seventh inning, the bases were loaded but no runs were scored.

The most dramatic moment came in the ninth inning with the bases loaded. Ham Deok-ju, who came in as the closer, was removed from the mound after giving up the go-ahead run. In relief was Baek Seung-hyun, who has zero career saves and is in his third year as a pitcher. He struck out Kang Min-ho and got Kim Dong-yeop to fly out to shortstop to end the game. It was his first career save.

Coach Yeom Kyung-yup said, “Hong Chang-ki and Kim Hyun-soo came through with important hits when we needed runs. Most importantly, our six bullpen pitchers pitched five innings of solid baseball to win the game. Seung-hyun Baek made a great save in a really tough situation at the end. I think it’s a step up for him. Congratulations to Seung-hyun on his first save.” 메이저사이트

He added, “Even though it was a weekday today, many fans came and supported us, which gave the players strength to win. We are grateful to them.”

LG took the first two games of the series and secured a three-game series advantage. They also closed to within 0.5 games of first-place SSG Landers. The starting pitchers for Game 15 are LG’s Im Chan-gyu and Samsung’s Hwang Dong-jae.
